CRADLE OF THE CIVILIZATIONS - ?ANATOLIA? ( August 7-20, 2010 )
Day 1, Izmir (Smyrna)
Meeting at the airport; arrival in Izmir, which is the ancient port of Smyrna, one of the Seven Churches of Asia Minor. The present city is a major port, and only a few remains can be seen on the citadel of ancient Smyrna. Dinner and overnight in Izmir. (D)
Day 2, Pergamum
Drive north for a morning visit to Pergamum, also one of the Seven Churches, an ancient Hellenistic city renowned for its wealth of Greaco-Roman remains. In Hellenistic times it was the rival of Ephesus in the field of commerce and of Alexandria in the fields of learning and the arts. Pergamum was the city that invented parchment after Egypt cut off its supply. The city dates back to the Attalids who ruled during the height of artistic and scientific discoveries in the third and second centuries BC. Dinner and overnight in Izmir. (B, D)
Day 4, Sardis / Philadelphia / Laodicea / Hierapolis
Drive east from Smyrna to Sardis, the fourth of the Seven Churches. Sardis was capital of the Lydian King Croesus, who obtained gold from the nearby river. The remains are well preserved here, with a famous gigantic temple of Artemis, alongside which is a Byzantine church. There is a superbly reconstructed bath house and synagogue. Continue along the valley to visit Alashehir, site of ancient Philadelphia, another of the Seven Churches, before continuing on to Laodicea, the sixth of the Seven. The remains are quite evocative. On the cliffs above is Hierapolis, a well preserved Roman city with hot baths. Heiropolis was where St. Phillip was buried, and there is a church here with a martyrion. Overnight at Pamukkale. (B, D)
Day 5: KONYA
Drive to Konya, visit the tomb of Celaleddin Rumi (Mevlana), the great mystic poet and Islamic spiritual leader who founded the ?whirling dervishes.?
Day 6-7: CAPPADOCIA
Drive to Cappadocia with a stop at Sultanhani. Walk along the Ihlara Gorge visiting rock-hewn churches. Tour the Avcilar Valley, the Open Air Museum in Goreme, and early Christian churches with unique fresoes. Visit the Zelve Open Air Museum, Pasabaglair?s unique fairy chimneys and Avanos. Spend the night in Cappadocia.
Day 8 CAPPADOCIA / KAYSERI / TRABZON
Visit the Kaymakli Underground City, a place early Christians hid from persecutors. Visit Soganli Village, famous for dolls and housing more rock churches. Departure for Trabzon, the biggest port on Black Sea shore. Hagia Sophia Churc is facing to Black Sea with her beautıful frescoes. Sumela Monastery, on the cliff and surrounded trees.
Day 9 Trabzon/ Istanbul
Transfer to the airport, flight to İstanbul. On arrival we are met and driven to our hotel in the Sultan Ahmet area (old city). Afternoon orientation tour to the environs of Constantinople and the Land Walls of Theodosius, the Aqueduct, and the Church of the Chora, with it?s fine mosaics. Dinner and overnight in Istanbul. (D)
Day 10 Istanbul
Walking visit of the ?old city.? The Byzantine Emperor Constantine moved the capital of the Roman Empire to the small trading colony of Byzantium. The Empire lasted over 1100 years. Visit the Hippodrome, the Agia Sofia, Church of Holy Wisdom, the Blue Mosque, the Topkapi Palace, and Museum. Afternoon visit to the Church of St Sergius. Dinner and overnight in Istanbul. (B, D)
Day 11 Istanbul
A more leisurely day. Begin the day with a cruise on the Bosphorus before visiting the great bazaars of Istanbul. The afternoon will be free for visiting sites of special interest or for shopping. Dinner and overnight stay in Istanbul. (B, D)
Day 12 Edirne
The unknown capital city of Ottomans Edirne with her mosques and special Selimiye mosque after them mantal illness hospital we end with Grand Covered Bazaar. (B)
Day 13
Back to İstanbul, free day for leisure, shopping. Dinner and overnight stay in İstanbul.
Day 14
Transfer to the airport for the flight. End of our tour.

A DAILY JOURNEY TO THE PAST: BEYPAZARİ, ( August 4, 2010 )
In the 17th century the Ottoman traveller Evliya Çelebi wrote that Beypazarı lays in two valleys and consisted of 3011 two-storey houses with timber covered adobe walls. He said that the town had 70 schools, seven hans and hamams and 600 shops, and a weekly market where all kinds of fine and valuable commodities were sold. In 1884 a fire destroyed thousand of houses in the town, which were rebuilt by craftsmen from Beypazarı and Safranbolu in the late 19th century. Today with its over 3000 houses and two-centuries old buildings in the town centre, Beypazarı is one of the unspoilt Otoman towns in Turkey. The old quarter is under conservation, and the exteriors of 500 of these picturesque houses have already been restored. Works on the others is continuing.
ITINERARY:
Departure to Beypazarı at 08.30 am from the hotel. During the day visit Hıdırlık Hill, one of the highest hill which you can see paranomic view of Beypazari, traditional Beypazarı Houses, Beypazarı Museum, free time for shopping at silver marketplace and public bazaar. Lunch at Değirmencioglu Restaurant. After lunch visit Inozu Valley; a protected area as naturally and historically. It was used as a settlement place in the first ages. Now It is a natural area which shelter 100 bird and 60 butterfly types.
Return back to Ankara, transfer to the hotel and end of the tour.

DAY 3 : FLIGHT TO CAPPADOCIA & CAPPADOCIA TOUR 1 (B-D)
Today around 06:00 am we will transfer you to Istanbul airport for flight to Kayseri airport (Cappadocia) by Onur Airlines (or similar).06:30 am flight from Istanbul to Kayseri. 07:30 am arrive in Kayseri, pick up and transfer to Cappadocia. Tour to visit Devrent Valley, Monk's valley (Pasabagi) where you will find the world known fairy chimneys. Break for lunch in Avanos and then continue on to the Goreme Open-Air Museum where you will visit the numerous rock carved churches and monasteries. Depart for a panaromic view of Esentepe and then on to Uchisar, a natural rock castle at the end of the tour transfer to the hotel around 6:00 pm and overnight stay in Cappadocia.
DAY 4 :CAPPADOCIA TOUR & FLIGHT TO DENİZLİ(B-D)
You are going to be picked from your hotel in the morning, visiting Kaymaklı Underground City, Ihlara Valley. Then transfer to Nevşehir Airport. 15:35 pm flight to Istanbul by Turkish Airlines . 16:55 arrival in Istanbul. 17:55 flight from Istanbul to Denizli. 19:00 arrival in Denizli, pick up from the airport and transfer to the hotel in Pamukkale. Dinner and overnight stay in Pamukkale.
DAY 6 : EPHESUS TOUR & FLIGHT TO ISTANBUL(B-D)
Today after breakfast, EPHESUS-HOUSE OF VIRGIN MARY tour; the ancient site of Ephesus, Artemission, museum, basilica of St.John&House of Mother Mary. Then transfer to the airport, flight to İstanbul. Overnight in İstanbul.

DAY 1 : ARRIVAL IN ISTANBUL

DAY 2 : BOSPHORUS & TWO CONTINENTS TOUR (B-L-D)
After breakfast in your hotel, around 08:30 am our guide will pick you up from the reception. Today's tour is Bosphorus and 2 Continents. You will be visiting the following places, Golden Horn, Bosphorus Cruise for an hour, Rumeli Fortress (vision from the sea), Dolmabahce Palace, Bosphorus Bridge,
Camlica Hill. 5:00 pm back to the hotel and overnight in Istanbul.
DAY 3 : BYZANTINE & OTTOMAN RELICS TOUR (B-L-D)
After breakfast in your hotel, we will pick you up around 08:30 am from the reception. Today's tour is
Byzantine and Ottoman Relics. You will be visiting the following places, Haghia-Sophia, Blue Mosque,
Hippodrome, Grand Bazaar, Topkapi Palace and Underground Cistern 5:00 pm back to the hotel and
overnight in Istanbul. (this is a walking tour)
DAY 5 : CAPPADOCIA TOUR (B-L-D)
After breakfast in your hotel fully guided Cappadocia Tour. DAY 6 : HOT BALLOON TOUR & FLIGHT TO DALAMAN(B-L-D)
You are going to be picked from your hotel early in the morning, usually before sunrise and driven to take-off site. While you are having a light breakfast, you will also see the inflation of the balloon get passenger brief which explains basic rules about balloon flights. Right after the passenger brief, highlight of your Turkey trip will start and you will take-off gently. After taking hundreds of pictures over the valleys of Cappadocia, you will land and celebrate your flight with champagne. After getting your flight certificates you will be back in your hotel around 08:00 am. Checkout and transfer to the airport. Flight to Dalaman, upon arrival transfer to Fethiye Marina for our Blue Voyage programme; FETHİYE-MARMARİS. Get on board, evening meal and overnight in Fethiye harbour or at a nearby bay, such as Samanlık(depending on arrival time of guests).
DAY 7 : FETHİYE GULF-GÖCEK BAYS(B-L-D)
Set sail after breakfast to visit pretty spots in the Fethiye Gulf, including lunch and a swim at Yassica Island.
DAY 8 : GÖCEK BAYS(B-L-D)
Today is spent in the beautiful Göcek Bays area, with stops at Kuyruk Burnu and Batık Hamam Bay, where the ruins of an old house sit in the crystal waters. Overnight is spent in either tranquil Bedri Rahmi or Sarsala Bay.
DAY 9 : TERSANE ISLAND-AĞ LİMANI(B-L-D)
After breakfast and briefing, you?ll set off along the coast in time for lunch at Tersane Island, where you can see the remains of a Roman and Greek shipyard on the beach. Overnight is spent in the natural bay at Ağ Limanı.
DAY 10 : EKİNCİK(DALYAN&CAUNOS) (B-L-D)
An early start for the beautiful Ekincik area. After dropping anchor in a peaceful bay, you?ll have the choice of either staying on board, or taking al trip to Dalyan and Caunos, where you can take a river boat trip to see millennia old tombs built high in the rock face, explore the ancient city of Caunos, take a mud-bath, and relax on Turtle Beach.
DAY 11 : KUMLUBÜK-SEMİZCE BAY(B-L-D)
Another early start, heading towards Marmaris. There?ll be a stop for lunch and swim in Kumlubük Bay, before heading off to Semizce, an uninhabited bay, for dinner and the night.
DAY 12 : PARADISE ISLAND-MARMARİS(B-L-D)
Setting sail after breakfast, there?ll be time for swimming and a leisurely lunch at Turunç Bükü or at beautiful Cennet (Paradise) Island, before arriving in Marmaris for dinner and the night.
DAY 13 : MARMARİS-GOODBYE(B)

HALF DAY TOUR OF ANKARA ( August 3, 2010 )
ITINERARY:
Depart around at 10.00 am from the hotel to visit the Anatolian Civilizations Museum in the old Citadel, one of the best museums in Turkey, housing an extensive display of ancient settlers in Asia Minor starting from the Stone Age and especially dating back to Neolithic and Bronze Ages such as Catalhohuk and Bogazkoy settlements. Later, you'll visit also the Mausoleum of Ataturk where the founder of the Turkish Republic rests in peace. Return back to the hotel at 14.00 p.m.
Museum of Anatolian Civilizations:
The collections in this museum place an unusual emphasis on the earlier of Anatolia's occupiers, and start with an interesting exhibit of finds from the Catal Huyuk site, often described as the earliest known human community in the world. Other highlights include a collection of tablets, the translations of which remind you how little some things in the world have changed over the millennia.
Citadel of Ankara:
The Citadel overlooks the city and is the acknowledged symbol of Ankara. It is the oldest part of the city, built either by Hittites or Phrygians, people live almost as they did 600 years ago. The region was settled before 2000 BC.
Ataturk Mausoleum:
This mausoleum is the eternal resting place of Ataturk, the founder of the Turkish Republic, revolutionary, brave soldier, great leader and international figure. It overlooks Ankara and was completed being built in 1953 and in November 1953, Ataturk was buried there. The Mausoleum is adorned with statues, relief's and embellishments created by many of Turkey's artists.

Departure in the morning and drive to Gordion (Approximately 100 km) that was the capital of the Phyrigians. Visit to the Acropolis and then to the Local Museum in which there are some remnants from the surroundings though the main findings are on display in the Anatolian Civilizations Museum in Ankara. Finally step in to the Tumulus in which the tomb of the legendary king Midas is located. And drive back to Ankara.

ITINERARY:
DAY 1 : Departure at 08.00 am from the hotel. During the day visit Ihlara Valley; rock-carved churches, Kaymaklı Underground City, Pigeon Valley and the citadel of Uçhisar. Then transfer to the hotel. Dinner and overnight stay.
DAY 2 : After breakfast departure from the hotel, set out to Göreme Valley, featuring 365 rock carved churches and monasteries, decorated with remarkable frescoes, then visit Paşabağ Valley and Devrent Valley to see the amazing fairy chimneys , Avanos famous with its potteries .
